We don’t just calibrate, but always take into consideration every minute details and parameters necessary to achieve accurate precision in any given facilities and equipments. In flow measurement system, we calibrate storage tanks (depot tanks, underground tanks, generator tanks, surface tanks and LPG tanks etc), flow meters (Liquid control, satam, Accuoload prime 4 smith and digital sensor meters) and other measuring instruments.
There are three methods used by United Marine Inspections to carry out its calibration exercise.
i. Liquid calibration: In accordance with API STD 2555 for liquid calibration of tanks. Where Master meter are used to metered some certain amount of volume in liters into the tank with a corresponding dip in millimeters . This liquid/wet method are employed for underground tanks, irregular shaped tanks, LPG tanks and movable tanks e.g oil tankers and LPG gas tankers.
ii. Dry calibration: In accordance with API MPMS CHAP. 2.2a, 2.2b for strapping of vertical tanks. And API MPMS CHAP.2.2e for strapping of horizontal tank. These methods are mainly used to calibrate stationary surface tanks using standard tapes or strapping tapes as the case may be.
iii. Meter/Prover calibration: In accordance with API STD 2531, 1101 and API MPMS CHAP.4.1:2005. Using the known tested and satisfied master meter/Prover to test/prove the unknown object e.g meter under test, tanks, trucks etc.
After the tank/ measuring instruments had been inspected on site, a suitable method will be accepted by both parties. Mobilization to site for calibration, return from site to compute the tables and charts. Validation and issuing of charts or certificate as the job demands.
